Why is this important?
Over 400,000 women do not have a cervical smear as recommended, and around 200,000 of these have not checked themselves for ten years or more.
This is worrying, as early detection of cell changes can prevent serious consequences, including cervical cancer.
If you check yourself regularly, you can reduce the risk of cervical cancer by at least 80 percent. Unfortunately, statistics from the Norwegian Cancer Registry show that many people do not take this test, despite the fact that it could save their lives.

A call to action
We encourage women to prioritize their own health and take the time to have a cervical smear. For those who find it uncomfortable or difficult, we encourage you to talk to your gynecologist to find a solution. The home test offer, which is on its way, provides an alternative option for those who cannot carry out a gynecological examination. Until it is in place, it is important to follow the program by taking the test with the doctor.
Together we can eradicate cervical cancer
The cervical program, combined with the HPV vaccine, has the potential to eradicate cervical cancer. This is a rare opportunity to fight a form of cancer on a national level.
