Digital ADHD assessment by video – wherever you are
Suspect ADHD, but live far from a clinic or have a busy everyday life? At Dr.Dropin Psychology, experienced psychologists and psychiatrists assess adults by video, so you can take part wherever you are – at home, at work or while travelling – and wherever in the country you live.
- All sessions by video
- No referral needed
- Quick start

Why choose a digital ADHD assessment?
A digital assessment makes it easier to get started. You can take part wherever you are, so you save travel time and can fit the sessions into a busy week. You choose a place where you feel safe and can talk undisturbed. For many people it is also easier to take the first step when they do not have to show up in person.
The assessment is based on the Norwegian Directorate of Health's national guidelines for ADHD and is carried out by psychologists and psychiatrists together. An assessment gives you a thorough professional evaluation, but does not automatically mean you receive an ADHD diagnosis.
If you prefer to sit in the same room as the psychologist, you can choose an assessment at one of our clinics instead.

What you need to take part digitally
To get the most out of the assessment, it is a good idea to prepare a few practical things before the first session:
- A phone, tablet or computer with camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection.
- A quiet place where you can talk undisturbed, whether at home, at the office or anywhere else you have peace.
- The Dr.Dropin app and BankID, which you use to create a profile and book.
- Someone close to you, for example a parent, who can tell us what you were like as a child. The assessment includes collateral information.
- A medical examination by a doctor, which is part of the assessment. You can use your own GP.
How a digital ADHD assessment unfolds
Step 1: First video sessions and mapping
You start with sessions where you and the psychologist go through what you hope to get out of the assessment, which symptoms you recognise and what your upbringing was like. At the same time, we check whether something else could explain your difficulties. Active substance use rules out both diagnosis and medication. If it becomes clear early on that your difficulties are not caused by ADHD, we end the assessment rather than put you through a longer process.
Step 2: Thorough evaluation and conclusion
If the assessment continues, a diagnostic interview is carried out together with tests and information from someone close to you. The psychologist and the psychiatrist discuss the findings, and you receive a written report that we go through with you. You get a clear conclusion and advice on the way forward, whether or not it ends in an ADHD diagnosis.
Step 3: Follow-up and possible medication
If you receive an ADHD diagnosis, the psychiatrist assesses whether medication may be relevant. Starting medication requires careful titration with at least two follow-up sessions, and some people need more before the right dose is found. Once you are stable, your GP takes over prescriptions and follow-up in line with national guidelines. Many people also benefit from continuing talk therapy with a psychologist.
Book appointmentWhat does the assessment cost and how long does it take?
A complete assessment typically takes around 12 hours, including preparation and report writing. The scope is assessed individually and depends on how complex the case is. Sessions and written work are billed at our current hourly rates.
If you receive a diagnosis and want medication assessed, a further 3–6 hours with a psychiatrist normally comes in addition. See the price list for hourly rates.
Price listAlready have an ADHD diagnosis?
If you were diagnosed elsewhere and want to have medication assessed by us, we need the full assessment report and documentation of a medical examination from the last three months. The report must meet the Norwegian Directorate of Health's requirements, and if it lacks, for example, information from childhood or drug tests, these must be submitted. Contact support for an overview of what is required.
Common questions about digital ADHD assessment
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly in the Dr.Dropin app without a referral.
Can I get an ADHD diagnosis over video?
The sessions in the assessment take place by video, and a diagnosis is made after an overall evaluation by a psychologist and psychiatrist. An assessment does not automatically give a diagnosis, but you always receive a clear conclusion.
How long does it take?
An assessment usually takes around 12 hours spread across several sessions and written work, but it varies from person to person.
Can I get medication?
If you receive the diagnosis, the psychiatrist assesses whether medication is relevant. Starting happens gradually over several hours, and your GP takes over once you are stable.
