Parental guidance with a psychologist or psychiatrist

A positive upbringing environment and supportive adults are crucial for children’s development and mental health. Parenting brings many joys, but also challenges, and sometimes it can be helpful to get guidance to see the situation from a new perspective. As a customer with child insurance from Gjensidige, you have access to parent guidance with a psychologist. This service is for one or both parents—without the child present—to support you in being confident and effective caregivers.

Who is this service for?

It is important to take a holistic approach to promote children’s mental health. Parent guidance is especially suitable when the child is too young to benefit from their own sessions, or when it is more effective to work with you as parents rather than with the child directly.

This is a low-threshold service for mild to moderate family challenges and is not intended to replace treatment for serious issues. The first session is always an assessment, during which the psychologist maps out the situation and evaluates whether this is the right service for you, or if you would benefit more from support from other services.

  • Target group: Parents with children aged 0–15 years.
  • Price: The service is free for those who have child insurance with Gjensidige.
