Price for hemorrhoid removal

We offer a simple and predictable pricing model — you only pay for what you actually need. If you order a complete treatment, but it turns out you don't need surgery, you only pay for the examination.

Price 1 595,–
Are you unsure whether your symptoms are caused by hemorrhoids? Book an examination with our specialist. If treatment is recommended, it can be performed at the same time.

Complete treatment (Surgery/Knitting)

Price 4 995,–
Consultation, examination and immediate treatment (rubber ligation or surgical removal under local anesthesia) in the same hour.

What can we achieve in one 4995 NOK session?

During the session, we assess and treat the areas causing you the most discomfort. Our surgeon has extensive experience performing treatments such as 2-3 ligations or removing 2-3 skin tags (or a combination) per session. We do this to achieve the best possible results without causing unnecessary pain or discomfort afterwards.

If, during the consultation, it appears you have more significant issues requiring more interventions than is advisable for one day, Dr. Edenberg will recommend a follow-up appointment for further treatment. This precaution is taken to ensure you have the gentlest and most pain-free recovery possible.

Rubber band ligation or surgery for hemorrhoids?

Dr. Edenberg will assess whether banding treatment or surgical removal is the best option for you during the consultation, and perform the procedure in the same appointment if desired.

Rubber band ligation

This is the most common and gentle method for smaller, internal hemorrhoids that cause bleeding.

  • A small rubber band is placed around the hemorrhoid to cut off its blood supply. The hemorrhoid withers and falls off after about 10 days.
  • Quick, minimal discomfort, and performed without anesthetic.

Hemorrhoid surgery (excision)

This is the best solution for larger, more bothersome hemorrhoids or anal skin tags. Removal of skin tags is the treatment patients most often request.

  • The entire hemorrhoid/skin tag is surgically removed.
  • Provides a lasting and good result. The procedure is performed under local anesthetic to ensure you have a pain-free experience during the procedure.

Should there be a need for a major operation requiring general anesthesia, Dr. Edenberg will refer you to a hospital.

Does surgery offer a lasting solution, or should I expect recurrence?

The surgical procedure resolves the issue for the specific hemorrhoids or skin tags that are treated. Since hemorrhoids are linked to increased pressure and lifestyle factors, new ones may appear later in life.

By following Dr. Edenberg's advice on bowel regulation and diet, you can significantly reduce the risk of new problems.

Prevent hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are often linked to increased pressure during bowel movements. To achieve a lasting result after treatment and reduce the chance of recurrence, personal effort is important. Dr. Edenberg recommends the following:

  • Ensure a high intake of fiber (vegetables, fruit, whole grains) and sufficient water. This softens the stool, making it easier to pass, which helps you avoid straining.
  • If you experience constipation or hard stools, it is important to use laxatives when needed, in consultation with a doctor. This reduces pressure on the rectum.
  • Do not delay toilet visits, and avoid sitting and straining for long periods.
  • Regular physical activity stimulates bowel function and reduces venous pressure.

By following this simple advice in combination with the treatment, you increase your chances of being permanently free of symptoms.

FAQ

What exactly is a hemorrhoid?

Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels—a type of varicose vein—located in or around the anal opening. They are essentially normal blood vessels that have become enlarged, often due to increased pressure. They are a very common, but harmless, condition.

What are skin tags (marisker), and how are they treated?

Skin tags (marisker) are small, superfluous skin folds around the anal opening. They result from a hemorrhoid shrinking or receding. Skin tags rarely cause pain but can lead to hygiene difficulties, itching, and irritation. We remove skin tags surgically under local anesthetic, which is the most common treatment at our clinic.

What treatment is best for my hemorrhoids?

This depends on the type of hemorrhoid:

Banding is best for internal hemorrhoids that cause bleeding.

-Surgical removal (under local anesthetic) is best for larger hemorrhoids and for removing skin tags. Dr. Edenberg will make an accurate diagnosis during the consultation and provide a recommendation based on what offers the best and most lasting effect for you.

Is the treatment painful?

The procedure is designed to be as gentle as possible:

Banding is performed without anesthesia. You might feel minor discomfort in the hours following the procedure, but rarely severe pain.

Surgical removal is done under local anesthetic, so you won't feel pain during the procedure itself. You will always receive advice on pain relief for the period after treatment.

How long until I return to normal activity?

Most people can resume normal activities the same day as the treatment. With larger surgical procedures under local anesthetic, you may experience some discomfort for the first few days. Dr. Edenberg will provide specific advice on what you should avoid during the recovery period.

Can the hemorrhoids return?

The treatment resolves the problem for the specific hemorrhoids or skin tags that are treated. Since hemorrhoids are linked to increased pressure and lifestyle factors, new ones can develop later in life. By following Dr. Edenberg's advice on bowel regulation and diet, you can reduce the risk of new problems significantly.

Do I have to or should I have my hemorrhoids removed?

You should only have hemorrhoids removed if they are causing you significant discomfort. Hemorrhoids are usually harmless, and many people live well with them.

However, you should consider treatment if:

They cause persistent bleeding that cannot be stopped by self-treatment.

They significantly reduce your quality of life due to pain, itching, or hygiene problems.

If you are unsure of the cause of rectal bleeding, you should seek medical attention immediately.

I'm unsure if I have hemorrhoids - Should I make an appointment for full treatment?

No, you don't have to be sure! We understand that many people live with discomfort for too long. Our service always starts with a thorough consultation and examination (anorectoscopy) with our specialist.

If your issues can be resolved with self-care, that is what we recommend. You only pay NOK 1595 in this case.

If treatment (banding or surgery) is necessary, it is often performed in the same appointment for a total price of NOK 4995.

This ensures you get a quick diagnosis and only pay for the treatment that is actually performed.

How can Dr. Dropin offer specialist treatment at such a low price compared to other private clinics?

Dr.Dropin has an ethical and transparent fixed price of 4,995 NOK that covers both specialist consultation, examination and treatment in one and the same hour. This eliminates the unpredictable additional costs for separate services (consultation, examination, procedure) that are common with more traditional private providers, so you get specialist treatment from a highly experienced and competent gastrosurgeon, at a predictable low total price.
